Department of English

English language has been widely used all over the world. In India it has been used both for internal and external purpose. It has become the second language and gained popularity among the people in all fields. In today’s world, multilingualism is becoming more and more important. In addition to opening up employment opportunities, being able to speak a foreign language helps to make a real connection with people and to know more about diverse cultures, places and lifestyles. English is currently the language of the internet and is the language of science, aviation, computers, diplomacy, and tourism.

About the Department

The language Department of English handle the English classes for other departments. The department aims to develop English communication among the rural based learners who come from various hamlets in and around of Alangudi Taluk. The Department of English is aiming to achieve the educational objectives of state government of Tamil Nadu as well as the Union Government of India. It offers an English course known as Part II - English for Effective Communication, to all the learners compulsorily in affiliation with Bharathidasan University. It deals English as Second Language (L2). The Department of English also provide Cambridge English Course in collaboration with TANSCHE and Cambridge University, as per the TN Government’s MOU.
